We were pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Heike Graßmann, State Secretary for Science at the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism, and Dr. Babett Gläser, Head of the Research Division, to the Kurt Schwabe Institute on September 22, 2026.
The visit provided an opportunity to introduce KSI, present selected research activities and discuss the institute’s goals and future perspectives.
Insights into research at KSI
During their visit, Prof. Dr. Graßmann and Dr. Gläser first received an introduction to KSI and its activities. They then toured the institute together with Prof. Dr. Rant and Prof. Dr. Christian Matthus, gaining first-hand insights into the laboratories, technologies and research projects that shape KSI’s daily work.
The tour highlighted the breadth of KSI’s research, spanning areas such as biomedical technologies and nanotechnology. It also offered an opportunity to meet the researchers working on the development of innovative measurement technologies and their applications.
Exchange on the future
The visit concluded with a joint exchange on the goals and perspectives of KSI. Discussions focused on the institute’s development, its role within Saxony’s research landscape and opportunities for future cooperation and innovation.
